Baguio City is a beautiful summer destination spot for Filipinos and international visitors alike! It is located in Northern Luzon in the Cordillera Central Mountains. One of the most temperate climates in the Philippines, Baguio is a great way to spend a long weekend relaxing or make a stop after an island-hopping trip in the south. Best for the Whole Family: 50s Diner

The 50s Diner in Baguio City is perfect for a fun evening and offers something for everyone in the family. They have a jukebox, plenty of memorabilia, and 50s inspired décor. The restaurant offers a great ambiance and there’s a jukebox for tunes! The food is affordable and delicious and there are enough options to please a crowd. Speaking of crowds, it can get busy, so go on off-hours to make sure you get a seat.

Best For a Crowd: Baguio Craft Brewery

Baguio Craft Brewery is a little taste of home for visitors from North America. The owner, Christopher Ordas, began this passion for brewing beer in Canada. He brought this passion to Baguio City and offers classic selections like IPAs and lagers as well as flavored options like strawberry beer.

The brewery also offers food and fun events like beer and food pairings and a tasting room. They can also accommodate a crowd, and offer buffet catering options for parties over 50.

Best For Vegetarian: Oh My Gulay

Finding quality vegetarian food in the Philippines can be a challenge. You can find anything in Baguio City, however, and for vegetarian cuisine, Oh My Gulay is the best place in town! The word gulay means vegetables in Tagalog and vegetables are definitely the star in Oh My Gulay’s dishes.

The restaurant features a koi pond, an Igorot inspired boat for dining, and an art exhibit featuring local artist Victor Oteyza. Whether you stick to veggies or are usually a meat-eater, you will enjoy a visit to Oh My Gulay!

If you go anywhere for the dining experience, make it Foggy Mountain Cookhouse. Chef Babes Reyes actually opens up his home every evening for the culinarily adventurous and curious. Located in San Carlos Heights, Foggy Mountain offers an outdoor patio with amazing views of the foggy landscape of Baguio. Indoors is a lively indoor dining area, where you can mingle with the chef and other diners.

Chef Babes’ specialty is delicious Mediterranean-inspired gourmet food at a reasonable price, and he is always creating new dishes based on what is available in his organic garden. Foggy Mountain Cookhouse is perfect for a romantic night out or just a superb culinary experience.

Best For Local Cuisine: The Farmer’s Daughter

The Farmer’s Daughter, located just outside Baguio, about a half-hour away in Tam-Awan, is well known for serving native Cordilleran dishes. You will find quality burgers, cafès, and pizza in Baguio City, but this restaurant is the best place for authentic local food in the region. Try the kinuday (smoked meat) which is pork, chicken, or beef, stir-fried with vegetables and onions. The Cordilleras are famous for their smoked meats, and with a visit to The Farmer’s Daughter, it’s not hard to see why. Other favorites are kindot, a grilled meat dish similar to kinudaypak-pako, light, and delicious salad. Pinikpikan, a traditional Cordilleran soup made by bruising chicken flesh, is also incredible.

No restaurant list would be complete without dessert! Vizco’s Restaurant and Cake Shop is the best place in Baguio City for a traveler with a sweet tooth. The strawberry shortcake is a fan favorite but reviews rave about the fluffy cakes, perfectly balanced pies, and not-too-sweet confections.
